This session will provide an overview of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System, T-TESS, which is the new Texas teacher appraisal system designed to support teachers through professional development, helping them grow and improve in all areas of professional practice. A new Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) is under development and has been designed utilizing extensive input from the state’s teachers, principals, and administrators.  As part of the state’s waiver from specific provisions of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) has submitted to the U.S. Department of Education specific details of a new teacher evaluation and support system that are in pilot-phase in as many as 72 school districts and charters in the 2014-2015 school year.  The Region 7 ESC district designated for the pilot program is Martinsville ISD.  Read more at the Texas Comprehensive Center.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month: Let's Make Shift Happen

I had the pleasure of learning about Conscious Discipline in a session at Region 7ESC recently and met two ambassadors, Donna Porter and DJ Baptiste, who brought a very powerful message. Watch this video to learn more about them.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Research shows that anti-bullying campaigns and exclusionary tactics make bullying worse! Conscious Discipline is about transformational change, so this month, take time to educate yourself on the bully-victim dynamic and how to help in a whole new way!

Dr. Becky Bailey released a public service announcement recently, "How To Make a Bully from Scratch." The short film showed us that bullying is a relationship issue and that bullies and victims are often cut from the same cloth. The film also takes us down a sad but predictable road we call the Bullying Path. Along the way, there were stops. 5 to be exact. They are highlighted by road signs that are really HUGE red flags.

Today's short film will blow you away! You will never guess where and when bullying begins. Learn the signs and then learn the interventions. WE CAN CORRECT THE COURSE!
