Seven Strategies for Success Over Stress

Summer is here!

Instead of spending your summer reflecting on the difficulties you faced during the last school year, you can choose to spend your summer building skills into your daily routine to help you successfully deal with the inevitable tough situations that the upcoming school year will bring, writes Jack Singer. He describes a wide range of stress-busting techniques, including:
  • Take charge of your internal dialogue by replacing negative thinking with positive thinking and surrounding yourself with positive people.
  • Release endorphins into your body with such activities as exercise, laughter, and getting in touch with your senses.
  • Practice random acts of kindness. For example, volunteer at a food bank or make it a practice to give sincere compliments to at least five people a day.
Like any skill, writes Singer, stress mastery must be practiced consistently, diligently and regularly–but the effort is worthwhile.
